EcoSmart Electronics Recycling Logo

I bought my first computer in 2002. Over the next few years I learned how to repair it myself after calling for support many times and remembering the steps they told me to go through. In 2005 I helped a friend reinstall his operating system and began collecting broken computers to play with. Some were repairable and some were not, needing some hardware to be replaced. By February of 2006 I had achieved the A+ certification which gave me the understanding of the communication of the hardware and the operating system and other software.

For the next few years I collected computers only and started a repair business as well as acquiring some more Microsoft certifications. By the end of 2008 had a collection of computers and parts. Up to this point in time I had been looking for where these things could go instead of throwing them away. This was very difficult to find places who would take broken or old electronics.

Our First Building The Recycling Team Disassemble Computer

During the first couple months of 2009 I spent a lot of time going to small business classes and learned that I should start this electronics recycling business. I still do computer repairs only, but recycle many types of electronics.

EcoSmart Electronics LLC collects and de-manufactures many types of electronics. Most of what we collect consists of TVs, computers, monitors, computer peripherals, dvd players, radios, pieces of these types of equipment and etc. Items do not need to be working or whole units. Sometimes we get outdated working equipment. We even take broken or not working household electronic devices like shavers, hair dryers, microwaves and etc.

Basically, everything is weighed on incoming, disassembled to separate plastics, metals, circuit boards, lead filled glass tubes and etc. Then these items are weighed and  taken to facilities who have the equipment to further breakdown the materials and make them ready for reuse in the industries who use the materials.

This disassembly part of the process is one of the most important steps to recycling and the most time consuming. I started this business from my home using my house and a picnic table in the yard. Now, I have a 24’x28’ garage with an office in the second level and am working to employ myself and grow to employ others.  In the process of doing this we will be preventing everything processed through us from ending up in any landfill anywhere.

Some of the benefits to you and your company include immediate removal of these items cluttering the work and storage spaces of your home and company facilities, guarantee that nothing goes to the landfills and support for your local economy by creating jobs in a much needed area of our environment. You may also advertise to your clients that you recycle your electronics instead of throwing them in the garbage.
